Archaeological Area of Nora
Nora is located on a promontory, the Cape of Pula, separated from the mainland by an isthmus extending in two points: O Sa Punta 'e Su Coloru (the tip of the snake), a E the tip of the Coltellazzo, in front of the homonymous island. The area is dominated by the Spanish tower of Coltellazzo, in a position of great landscape value.
It was the first Phoenician city in Sardinia (8th century BC), trade hub, as well as a port with an enviable position, in the isthmus of Capo Pula, from which one could sail with any wind. Nora, fully developed in the 4th century BC. under Punic rule, in 238 a.C. it was conquered by the Romans and in the 1st century AD. became municipality. in the following two centuries, lived the maximum splendour: urban growth and eight thousand inhabitants, besides being the head of the road, zero kilometer of all the roads on the island. Of the thriving city, fascinating ruins remain in the archaeological park of Anyway, a few minutes from the tourist center, and exhibits exhibited in Patrons museum. Snorkeling you will admire Roman roads and remains in the depths of the isthmus, at Punta del Coltellazzo, dominated by a 16th century tower.
